Wire thread inserts are used to increase thread strength and performance. They can be used to repair a stripped threaded hole, or provide increased durability to a threaded hole.
Wire thread inserts are often known as helical inserts, or Helicoil inserts. This variation is 'tangless', which means there is no notch at the end of the coil. 'Tanged' inserts are also available, the difference is in insertion mechanism only.
